Now that the New Year is no longer new and spring is finally taking a hold, everyone’s resolution to get fit and be healthy has probably taken a back burner. However there is no reason to not enjoy your exercise this spring. Sex is a great way to burn calories and is better (and cheaper!) than going to the gym. Below are some of the best ways you can work up a healthy sweat in the bedroom and burn off some of the excess pounds.
1. The Body Builder – for women
On average a standard session of sex burns about 144 calories per half hour. That means you could burn nearly 300 calories an hour (if you can last that long of course). The Body Builder helps you to burn more in less time. Simply straddle your man facing outwards towards his feet. Use your arms and hands to steady yourself as you lower yourself onto him. If you can hold this position for more than 7 minutes you can burn twice the number of calories the missionary position has.
2. The Elevator Pitch – for men
Simply 5 minutes of this will burn over 100 calories if you can hold it. A modified yoga position, this involves placing your arms up behind your head to rest on the floor. With the woman on top raise your pelvis up using your hands and feet to maintain your balance. See how many times you can thrust before collapsing into a happy heap.
3. Thigh Master – for women
Pretty simple this one but really good for your thighs, back and quad muscles. Squat above your man facing him before lowering yourself into him. Repeat this motion for five minutes to burn away the calories.
4. Air Straddle – for women
Harder than it looks. Simply clasp your man around his torso using only your thighs. Do not allow your bottom to rest on his lap or any surface. Hold this for as long as you can as he thrust in and out of you. Not only does this feel naturally pleasurable, but it works your glutes and thigh muscles.
5. Hook, Thrust, Repeat – for both
You can alternate between man and woman on leading this. Whoever wants the workout, simply lie down on your back arching your back up towards your partner. Now thrust into them holding the connection for as long as you can. Enables the thigh, glutes and abdominal muscles to work.
